To prevent anyone freezing below deck, a heater operated with LPG may be the answer. Worksheet G 608 has an <strong>unmistakable specification<\/strong> for this kind of &#8220;indirect&#8221; measure: &#8220;The use of cooking, barbecue and baking devices to heat a room is not permitted.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Banal_but_important\"><\/span>Banal, but important<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>And last but not least, it&#8217;s an enormously important point, even if it sounds banal:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The skipper must operate and maintain the gas equipment in accordance with the <strong>manufacturer&#8217;s instructions<\/strong>. So you must read the assembly and operating manual carefully, keep them in a safe place and comply with the requirements.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_difference_between_fixed_installation_and_mobile_equipment\"><\/span>The difference between fixed installation and mobile equipment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have to differentiate when discussing whether gas heating is now permitted on boats. <strong>Of course, hot air and\/or hot water heating systems are permitted<\/strong> when they are integrated as a fixed feature in the LPG installation of the water craft. It is a bit more difficult for mobile heaters.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8796\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8796\" style=\"width: 186px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gok-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1860600.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8796\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gok-blog.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/1860600.jpg\" alt=\"1860600\" width=\"186\" height=\"202\" title=\"\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8796\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Not suitable for heating below deck on a boat: an infra-red LPG heater.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One thing is certain: Catalyst ovens, radiant heaters and infra-red heaters, i.e. all devices requiring a gas cylinder, are not permitted. Gas cylinders <strong>have no place below deck<\/strong> and must be housed in the ventilated (gas) cylinder case. The alternative is heaters that you operate with a commercially available <strong>gas cartridge<\/strong>. Such heaters are not prohibited, however: The manufacturer&#8217;s information must always be observed and complied with! In most cases, these require that the devices are only used on a stable, heat-resistant surface and if the room is sufficiently ventilated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We must differentiate between fixed and mobile gas heaters on boats.
