Can I have a German LPG cylinder filled abroad?

Unfortunately, even within Europe, the connections for LPG cylinders are not always the same. This makes it more difficult for campers to ensure a permanent supply of LPG when travelling with a caravan and motor caravan, but it isn’t impossible.

An adapter for filling a German gas cylinder with propane and/or butane abroad is the solution. In the so-called Euro filling set D, you will find four filling adapters, specifically for the European area. This allows you to have your gas cylinder with a German connection filled from authorised filling points in the following countries, for example:

Euro-Füll-Set D Länder

A complete list of countries in which you can fill gas cylinders with Euro filling set D can be found in the product description on the GOK website. There, you can also select individual filling adapters from the set. All four filling adapters of the set fit on German gas cylinders with a filling weight of 5 or 11 kilograms.

However, it should also be mentioned that it is not so easy to have all cylinders filled, even if you have the appropriate filling adapter. The online portal caravaning.de has an interesting article on the subject: Well supplied with camping gas on holiday.

Please note that you must not fill normal 5 or 11-kilogram gas cylinders at autogas filling stations using the fuel nozzle. This is strictly prohibited. You should also look for an authorised filling point abroad. Due to increased demand, the German LPG Association (DVFG) published specialist information which is worth a read: “Filling gas cylinders/tank cylinders at public filling stations”.
