Approximate reading time: 4 minutes

The new filter cartridge 2.0 from GOK has been available since 2023. The filter cartridge 2.0 is part of the Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter, which in turn protects the LPG system of motor caravans or caravans against contamination. This article is about the advantages of the filter cartridge 2.0 over its predecessor model, as well as other important topics regarding the gas filter.

What is the filter cartridge 2.0?

The filter cartridge 2.0 is a new development of the filter unit for the Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter, which is used in the gas system of motor caravans and caravans. It consists of what is known as a supporting core and the filter element itself.

As a component of the gas filter, the filter cartridge is responsible for protecting the downstream components of the gas system, such as pressure reducers, valves or gas heaters, against contamination.

The filter cartridge 2.0 fits in all versions of the Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter from GOK for motor caravans and caravans. The new filter cartridge may even fit into Truma gas filters.

Benefits of the filter cartridge 2.0

The same performance but with a lower price and less waste – this promise may sound somewhat illusory, but it still applies in full to the newly developed filter cartridge 2.0. Compared with its predecessor, the filter cartridge from GOK has fallen significantly in price.

The price reduction was made possible by using an alternative filter material and without changing the basic performance characteristics of the gas filter. With an efficiency rating of 99.9 percent, the Caramatic ConnectClean provides reliable protection against oil contamination in the system – and dust particles remain in the filter.

Last but not least: The new filter cartridge causes less waste! In the old days, whenever the predecessor model needed changing, the entire unit was thrown out with it. Users can now detach the filter unit from the supporting core, which they are able to reuse. The filter element is available as a spare part.

Which filters/filter cups is it suitable for?

In 2021, GOK redesigned the filter cup for the Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter. The cup has become shorter by almost two centimetres. Of course, the new filter cartridge 2.0 fits into the short filter cup.

And there’s no need to worry if you have an older long cup (total height 88.5 mm). The new filter cartridge 2.0 also fits into these filter cups.

Die Filterpatrone 2.0 passt in jedem Fall in die neue kurze Filtertasse des Caramatic ConnectClean, aber auch in das Vorgängermodell mit der längeren Filtertasse.

The filter cartridge 2.0 fits both into the new short filter cup of the Caramatic ConnectClean as well as into the predecessor model with the longer filter cup.

Does it also fit into Truma gas filters?

The filter cartridge 2.0 does not fit into every Truma filter model. If your gas filter is silver-coloured, has the type designation “Truma gas filter type AS99” and has a year of manufacture until 02/2019, then you can use the GOK filter cartridge 2.0.

Replacement: how, when and other questions

We have already answered all the questions that have arisen about the replacement of the filter cartridge in a general article here in the blog:

When and how should I change the cartridge in the GOK Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter?

While the article shows the “old” filter cartridge, it is also valid for the filter cartridge 2.0, with one exception: as previously mentioned, it is not necessary to dispose of the entire filter cartridge after the replacement, but only the filter element, and the supporting core is reused.

Is a gas filter useful?

From the GOK point of view, we can answer this question with a clear yes. Unfortunately, a number of defective pressure regulators and control devices were returned to us, for which we had to determine the cause. The only solution is to open the device and make it “unsuitable for operation”.

All too often, we found dirt and oily residues inside the fittings. In order to save campers and ourselves from this inconvenience, we recommend the use of gas filters, although we wouldn’t describe this as compulsory.

Should I or shouldn’t I install the Caramatic ConnectClean gas filter on my gas system? Ultimately, everyone has to answer this question themselves, and as the manufacturer of the product, one could, of course, accuse GOK of partiality. In any case, we recommend that you take a closer look at this topic, and we gladly refer you to these YouTube videos:
