When do you need to replace pressure regulator and hose assembly in LPG systems? GOK shall specify the answer and the relevant rules and regulations.

For LPG systems, there are different technical rules depending on the application. These include replacement periods for components such as pressure regulators and hose assemblies. GOK will tell you when you need to replace them.

The technical rules stipulate or recommend when to replace the components. If they are worn or damaged before expiry of the deadline, please replace them immediately.

Below we will give you a brief overview of the various purposes and replacement periods.

a) Operating an LPG system privately in the household

  • Equipment and cylinder are indoors or outdoors
  • Replacement pressure regulator after ten years (recommendation)
  • Replacement of hose assembly after ten years
  • Guideline(s) replacement periods: TRF

b) Operating an LPG system commercially

  • Equipment and cylinder are indoors or outdoors
  • Replacement of components after ten years
  • Guideline(s) replacement periods: DGUV 110-010

c) Operating an LPG system in caravans/motor caravans privately

  • Replacement of components after ten years
  • Guideline(s) replacement periods: DVGW G 607 (A)

e) Operating an LPG system for camping/outdoors

  • Equipment and cylinder are outdoors
  • Replacement of components after ten years
  • Guideline(s) replacement periods: DVGW G 612 (A)

f) Operating an LPG system in marine applications (boats, water crafts) privately

  • Equipment is integrated into the boat
  • Replacement of components after six years
  • Guideline(s) replacement periods: DVGW G 608 (A)

g) Operating an LPG system in marine applications (boats, water crafts) commercially

  • Equipment is integrated into the boat
  • Replacement of the pressure regulator after nine years at the latest
  • Replacement of the hose assembly at “appropriate time intervals”
  • Guideline(s) replacement periods:DGUV rule 110-006

The replacement period always starts on the date of manufacture of the components, not on the date of installation.

Pressure regulators, gas hoses etc. are subject to replacement periods as components of an LPG system. GOK will tell you after how many years in use you will need to replace what item.
The year of manufacture is printed on the type label of the pressure regulator. On older models, the month of manufacture is printed in addition to the year of manufacture. For example, the code 08.15 (MM.YY) means that the pressure regulator was manufactured in August 2015. A tag is attached to the hose assemblies, upon which the year you need to replace the entire gas hose is printed.
