How does an excess flow valve for LPG systems work?

5. February 2018/in LPG Everyday, LPG in Commerce, LPG in Private Housholds

The German LPG Association (DVFG) obliges the operator of an LPG system for private purposes in accordance with the technical rules for LPG (for short: TRF 2012) to incorporate an excess flow valve. Each new gas heating system must therefore have this safety component. If you make major changes to your LPG heating system, you must install an excess flow valve.

This blog post provides information on how to operate an excess flow valve (GS) and how it protects residents from dangerous gas leakage. Read more

How does a limit indicator work?

22. January 2018/in All about heating oil installations, Level Control & Safety, Liquid Media & Tank Management

A large proportion of the owners of fuel oil systems have already seen it, some people are familiar with the name, but most people aren’t familiar with how the limit indicator works. The safety fitting protects tanks from overfilling, thus also protecting their environment. The limit indicator works according to the principle of a temperature-dependent electrical PTC resistor – also known as PTC thermistor. Read more

How can I check the functionality of the limit indicator?

20. November 2017/in All about heating oil installations, Level Control & Safety, Liquid Media & Tank Management

In principle, it eliminates the possibility of overfilling a fuel oil tank. First, the tank truck driver must determine the free capacity – for example, they can do this using the SmartBox®. Based on this value, the mineral oil retailer knows how many litres of fuel oil fit into the tank. If they have miscalculated or the filling level indicator is not displaying correctly, the limit indicator still provides protection. But how do you ensure that the limit indicator will definitely respond when it comes to it? Read more

How does an over-pressure safety device S2SR work?

10. April 2017/in Gas Regulator, Gas Cylinder & more, Gas Regulator, Gas Cylinder & more, LPG Everyday, LPG Leisure Time

In Germany, it is usual for July and August to be the warmest months with an average temperature of approx. 18 degrees Celsius. If we take this value as a basis, the gas flows out of an LPG cylinder with a pressure of almost seven bar. The cylinder pressure is therefore 140 times higher than the pressure which should finally be applied to the consumer equipment (50 millibar). Read more

6. February 2017/in Gas Regulator, Gas Cylinder & more, Gas Regulator, Gas Cylinder & more, LPG Everyday, LPG Leisure Time

It is one of the worst scenarios you can imagine: The company hall or the private building is in flames and the operator cannot shut off the gas supply. The fire inevitably is about to reach the LPG system; the extent and damage would be devastating, if there was an explosion. A thermal cut-out device prevents the uncontrolled gas escape from the downstream fittings and protects people and the system from major damage.
